This is a guard out of BYU, the tallest point guard in this draft class.
I see live reactions.
I’m gonna start with you.
Why are you shocked?
You say tallest point guard.
We’ll see if he’s more point guard or or forward in the future because with Jaeor Demon there’s no doubts about why he is that point guard.
Label, he’s a magnificent passer, great vision, at 6’9, can see over the defense.
Reminds me of a Josh Giddy, a Danny Avia, Ben Simmons-ish in a way.
I worry about his jumper.
Uh, well, yeah, in some ways Simmons had a great prime in his career, but I worry about his authority.
No, I think the prime is passed.

I get you.
I get you, but he had a nice prime.
Like, I mean, he and Ben Simmons came out in the All-Star at one point.
I don’t mean it as a knock, uh, but I do want to relate it to the criticism here with Demon.
If he’s a point guard, you gotta shoot.
He shot 27% from 3, under 70% from the free throw line, has never been a reliable shooter, and we saw BYU.
Not only sometimes did he go through streaks where he couldn’t hit shots at all, sometimes he had issues turning the corner, and I felt like that hurt BYU at times in both the conference tournament and in the NCAA tournament.
So is he a point guard?

That’s gonna depend on.
The development of his jumper and the development of his shot creation and we’ll see that over the course of time undoubtedly though, a huge swing from the Nets here at that’s a massive swing.
I mean there was a time where I practically lived in Provo last year.
I stayed doing that.
I no, because I was doing so many of their games, yeah, yeah, because I was doing so many of their games and when I watched this young man, what, what is on it, man?
Why?
Why would you go to?
What are they doing?
Maybe a job.
Maybe a job.
All right, that’s cool.
But, but when you look at Diego Demon, I, I think the biggest thing with him is his passing ability at 6’9, no doubt, is absolutely phenomenal.

His reads, he’s able to see over the defense, he sees things that’s not on the same level as Luca, but it’s Luca-esque in a sense, right?
His vision is elite.
My problem was the same concern that Kevin had is his shooting.
He didn’t shoot it great and too many times guards in the big 1. realized, yeah, at 69, I can climb into you.
I can climb into you and I can keep you from getting to where you wanna go, and he couldn’t turn a corner.
He couldn’t get to the rim, and that’s what BYU desperately needed.
I mean, Richie Saunders, a guy who was phenomenal for them.
If they would have had one more guy, Yor, to be the Ye Gore that they expected him to be, to be able to score those buckets, to be able to knock down threes, and he showed the flashes of it, he could do it at times, but if he could get a little bit of consistency.

I, I think this will be a good pick, but I’m concerned about the shooting and what happens with guards.
Smaller guards, 64, 65, climb into you, pressure you and make you go out a little bit further than you’re used to, get you out of your comfort zone.
I don’t know if he can handle that at this level.
