Yahoo Sports’ Draft Live crew reacts to the Miami Heat’s selection of Illinois guard Kasparas Jakučionis with the 20th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
At number 20, going to the heat, uh, you have talked about this guy extensively today, Caspariss Yakachonnis.

I mean, KJ gonna be interesting here in Miami.
I think they were probably hoping for Walter Clayton at this pick, but Yakachonnis, freshman in Illinois this past season, 6′ 5 ball handler, very talented, uh, playmaker, very talented passer, loves to go to the stepback jumper.
The thing is, is like for.
Every beautiful assist he has, there’s like an equally ugly bonehead turnover out of 33 games this season, he had 11 games with more turnovers than made shots.
And so if you’re talking about Yachornis as one of the creators in your team, to me that’s the vision with Bam Adebayo with Tyler Hero, but as a primary, I don’t think he’s a lead.

like Tyrese Halliburton type, he’s more of like a a Spencer din witty type of guy, one of your guards on the roster but not the guy.
definitely a backup because I, I don’t see it.
I mean, you talked about his turnovers.
He turned the ball over 25% of the time on his possessions, not good as far as far as a primary ball handler.
I do think he’s tough though.
I, I do think he’s tough and I do think that’s where he kind of fits in with that heat culture, that, that toughness.
However, In the pick and roll, I really do love him in the pick and roll.
Outside of the pick and roll, I don’t, I don’t know nothing about this game, but in the pick and roll, you go set him a high ball screen, my man can facilitate, he, he, he can, he, he can drop dimes.

His vision is there, but that’s the problem.
When guards climb up in him cause I know in practice he’s going to see a young man that I saw in practice and I still have nightmares, Daveon Mitchell.
He’s going to be going up against that guy every single.
Go day and Daveon will climb up in you because that’s what’s gonna make him better.
So I do think there’s a chance where he can grow and get better, get better in practice, but outside of the pick and roll, I don’t really love too much about this young man’s game.
Look, I have questions about where the Miami Heat are going as a franchise organization as a crew, right?

Like the Jimmy Butler thing was a disaster.

Tyler Hero, Bamabao is that good enough Terry Rozier, we got a whole lot of questions about Terry Rosier, right?
Daveon Mitchell’s a restrictive free agent.
Maybe you got something there with him, but I have a lot of questions about the composition of this team.
You hear about Andrew Wiggins being on the trade market.
We’re gonna see what happens there with him.
They needed something big.
