Yahoo Sports’ Draft Live crew reacts to the Washington Wizards acquiring Illinois wing Will Riley at No. 21 in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Will Riley is headed to the Wizards.

We are now officially in the 20s, so to speak.

We got 21.

Uh, Kev, give me your grade on this.

Uh, Will Riley will give it a C+, C++ minus.

I’m not the biggest Will Riley fan.

69 playmakers he’s got a good handle, gets to the basket, not a great athlete, not a great shooter yet, very lean frame, every NBA scout and executive.

I’ve talked to that’s more on the uh sour side of Will Riley says well what’s he gonna be, you know, as he grows into he’s got very, very narrow shoulders, very thin frame.

I worry he’s more of a Kim Ruddish, but the teams that are bullish on him he’s a guy who had a great growth spurt in high school who’s a point guard grown into a big wing or forwards body at 6’9, and they see a playmaker with upside.

So it depends on what side of the fence you fall on.

I’m on more of the, I’d let somebody else draft him side, but maybe you’re on the side of this guy has star potential.

I, I’m more so in the middle.

I, I’m really indifferent.

I mean, I, I, I do think, I do see the intrigue behind him.

I, I see that this young man he showed flashes at Illinois last year.

He showed flashes where he can really put the ball in the hole.

I was looking at him like, man, you at 69, the way that you can shoot this thing and that you can dribble it and and get to your certain spots.

I’m looking at him like, huh.

Is he big enough?

Is he big enough because I’m looking at this young man right now.

That suit is hanging off of his shoulder.

It really shows off how skinny he is and he, and from everything I read, he’s gained a lot of weight after coming to Illinois his freshman year.

So you’re wondering, is as skinny as he is, does he have another spurt in him or is he going to be one of those chest.

Light dudes who was 6’9, 6’10, just puts the ball on the floor but can’t really enforce a physical will onto you.

And if he can’t, I think that severely limits how good he can be.

I’m not gonna lie to you when you when you talk about this young man, I think it’s.

Low risk high reward once again same thing with a baby, right low risk high reward because when you look at him, he steps in there, he might have potential if he gets a little bit bigger, get some size on him with the way his with his confidence, with the way that he played at certain times in Illinois, this young man very well may be a guy who we look up and about.

34 years and say, man, he’s really turned into somebody but he also has the other side where he could really just fall off the face of the earth and we can never ever be like, oh, there’s so many, there’s so many Feast of Famine players in this draft.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, to that point.

Oh my, it’s more than this year than I think in the past few years he’s and he’s one of those guys.

He he’s a feast of Family guy.
